Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a man was run over by a speeding truck in Bankigarh village under Durgapur Panchayat in Odisha’s Cuttack district while he was returning home after a swimming session in a river on Friday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Keshav Behera of Bankigarh village.
According to reports, the accident occurred when Keshav was walking home after taking a bath in a nearby river. Suddenly, a brick-laden truck en route to Ramchandrapur ran over him. Keshav died on the spot.
The blood-covered body of Keshav was rescued by locals and he was rushed to Banki Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
The gruesome incident triggered tension in the area and locals blocked the road demanding compensation. The road blockade was lifted after the police arrived at the spot and assured of necessary initiatives. The police have seized the killer truck and detained the driver for questioning.
