Bhubaneswar: A 33-year-old man was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for raping a paralysed woman in the State Capital.
Bhubaneswar ADJ-4 court has also ordered the convict Ramesh Jena to pay Rs 10,000 fine, failing which he would undergo one year more imprisonment.
The court pronounced the verdict based on the statements of 17 witnesses, police investigation reports and scientific reports.
“Ramesh Jena had raped a paralysis patient. The court pronounced the verdict after examining 17 witnesses in the case. The victim got justice today,” the government lawyer Suryanarayan Panda said.
Jena had raped a paralysed woman in Badagada area in Bhubaneswar. Her family members lodged a complaint with the police based on which police registered a case. On May 8, 2022, he was arrested and forwarded to court.
