Balasore: A man was sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for raping a minor girl in Simulia area of Balasore district.
A special Pocso Court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict Gangadhar Jena. In case of non-payment, the convict will face an additional two years of imprisonment.
The verdict was based on the statements from 14 witnesses and 23 documents presented in court. According to reports, the incident occurred on January 12, 2023, in Simulia police station area of Balasore district.
The victim’s family had filed a complaint against Jena at the Simulia police station, alleging rape by the accused in a forest area.
