Bargarh: In a significant judgment, the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Surya Narayan Dwivedi, has sentenced Debasis Barik to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 25,000 for murdering Manjulata Patel, a resident of Gambharidihi village under Padampur police station in June 2022.
According to a complaint filed by the victim’s husband, Debasis attacked his wife Manjulata and his son when they were going to fetch water from a tubewell. As a result, Manjulata died on the very spot.
Based on the complaint, Padampur police registered a case in this connection and arrested the accused Debasis. Later, police produced him in court.
The court found Debashish guilty of killing Manjulata after hearing statement of 23 witnesses in connection with the case. The prosecution, led by Additional Public Prosecutor Haresh Kumar Sunani, successfully proved the case against the accused.
