Man Sentenced To Life Imprisonment For Murdering Son In Mayurbhanj

Baripada: A 40-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment for murdering his son in 2020 in Mayurbhanj district.

The Additional District Court (1) has also directed the convict Chepa Dehury to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 failing which he would undergo a further six months imprisonment.

Based on the statement of 53 witnesses, medical report and police investigation report, the court pronounced the judgment.

The convict was Chepa Dehuri (40) of Baldiha village of Jhinei under Kuliana police station in Mayurbhanj. It is worth noting that Chepa lived with his family in Beladungari under Badasahi police station.

On October 23, 2020, Chepa had an argument with her son Sudan Dehuri. He rushed to Sudan and hit him on the head with a stone. As a result, he bled profusely and died on the spot. He was trying to destroy his son’s body while the villagers stopped him and informed the police.

Later, his family lodged a complaint at Badasahi police station following which police registered a case and arrested the accused.
