Bhawanipatna: In an unfortunate incident, a man was set ablaze by a miscreant after he asked him to repay the borrowed money.
The incident took place in Bhawanipatna, the district headquarters of Kalahandi.
According to reports, the victim, identified as Anjan Padhi was staying in a rented house near Kasakendu square in the town. He had recently lent Rs 2 lakh to a person of the same locality.
Padhi had repeatedly asked him to repay the money, but he didn’t pay any heed.
On Wednesday, the miscreant called him to outside on the pretext of returning the borrowed money and took him to an undisclosed place near Khariar. Instead of returning the cash, he poured petrol on Padhi and set him on fire before fleeing the spot.
Local people found Padhi in a half-burnt condition and rushed him to district headquarters hospital.
After preliminary treatment, Padhi was shifted to Burla as his condition deteriorated.
Till the last report came in, no complaint had been lodged with police.
