Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly opened fire on his wife, son, and sister-in-law with a country-made pistol over a property dispute at Talabarakota village under Govindpur outpost in Dhenkanal district.
The accused has been identified as Mayadhar Behera.
After shooting them, Mayadhar reportedly attacked them with a sharp weapon leaving his wife Kaikei Behera, son Bana Behera, and sister-in-law Subhadra Behera seriously injured. Residents rescued them and immediately admitted them to the District Headquarters Hospital in Dhenkanal for treatment. As their condition worsened, all three were later transferred to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
Upon receiving the news, the Gobindpur police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. Police also arrested the accused.
They seized the country-made pistol and knife used in the attack.
According to the police’s preliminary investigation, the husband allegedly shot his wife, son, and sister-in-law with the country-made pistol over a property dispute and then attacked them with a sharp weapon found in the house.
