Baripada: In horrific incident, a man allegedly slit his wife’s throat with a knife at his in-laws place in Bhangabandh village under Kaptipada police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Thursday.
While the accused husband identified as Biranchi has managed to flee the spot, his wife Pravati has been admitted to the district headquarters hospital here.
On being informed Kaptipada police have initiated an investigation into the matter.
According to reports, accused Biranchi and Pravati had got married five years back. Following a quarrel between the two Pravati was staying in her paternal home at Bhangabandh village under Kaptipada police limits over the last three months.
Biranchi visited his in-laws place today. Upon seeing Pravati as previously planned Biranchi allegedly pulled out a knife he was carrying and attacked the former. Pravati was seriously injured and left profusely bleeding in the sudden attack by her husband. Biranchi fled the spot after attacking Pravati.
A profusely bleeding Pravati was initially rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Kaptipada by her family and was later shifted to the district headquarters hospital here.
