Bhubaneswar: A five-year-old boy and his father were killed as the bike they were travelling in collided with a speeding truck at Sikharpur in Cuttack, on Saturday.
According to sources, the mother, who was also on the bike, sustained injuries. The father-son duo was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. Unfortunately, despite medical efforts, the husband and son succumbed to their injuries.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
The wife, who lost her husband and child, was seen wailing uncontrollably on the roadside.
The truck driver responsible for the accident fled the scene.
Sikharpur police, meanwhile, took the bodies into custody and initiated an investigation.
