Malkangiri: In a ghastly act, a man reportedly stabbed his five-year-old daughter to death in RAC No 14 village of Doraguda under Chitrakonda block of Malkangiri district on Wednesday.
According to reports, the accused, Sanjeev Bhatra, returned home and suddenly stabbed his five-year-old daughter in her stomach with a knife while she was playing. Hearing the screams of the girl, her mother came out of the house and saw that her daughter lying in a pool of blood.
The girl was rushed to the Chitrakonda Community Health Center (CHC) in a critical condition where the doctors pronounced her ‘brought dead’.
On being informed, Chitrakonda police seized the body and launched an investigation. The police have arrested Sanjeev Bhatra for the crime.
While the precise reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained, villagers suspect that Sanjeev Bhatra committed the crime following instigation of his second wife. The girl’s grandfather, Vinod Bhatra, has alleged that his son killed his daughter at the behest of his second wife.
