Balasore: In a horrific incident, a man killed his wife in the presence of his family members and slept beside the dead body overnight in Chalanti village under Jaleswar police limits of Odisha’s Balasore district on Monday night.
According to reports, the accused Arjun Pandapat of Chalanti village married Lily, daughter of Sujay Jakpat of Devkumar village in the district and the couple has a minor daughter. It is alleged that Lily was often sexually harassed by her husband and in-laws.
On Monday night, the couple had an argument over some issue and, in a fit of rage, Arjun attacked Lily with a knife in the presence of his family members. Lily died on the spot.
Arjun was unregretful even after committing the heinous crime and slept beside his wife’s dead body. However, their daughter, who witnessed the crime, informed the neighbours about the incident.
On being informed by the neighbours, Jaleswar police personnel arrived at the spot and arrested Arjun. They also sent Lily’s body for post-mortem. Till the time of writing this report, police were interrogating Arjun.
