Bhubaneswar: A man sustained burns while trying to save his wife who attempted suicide by immolating herself over a domestic dispute. Both husband and wife are undergoing treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital after receiving severe burns in the incident.
The mishap took place at Kathakata village under Anandapur police limits in Keonjhar district last night.
The injured have been identified as Sanjay Ho and his wife Sasmita Ho of Kathakata village.
According to sources, Sanjay and Sasmita were not on good terms. They used to fight over petty issues. A quarrel broke out between Sanjay and Sasmita last night. Sasmita became so vicious that she attempted suicide by setting herself on fire. Sanjay rushed to save his wife who had caught fire and in the process, he too received burn injuries.
Finding no other go, Sanjay and Sasmita screamed for help following which neighbours came to their rescue.
They doused the fire and rushed the burn victims to Anandpur Hospital. As their condition got deteriorated, both Sanjay and Sasmita have been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
