Balasore: A man allegedly beat his wife to death over a family dispute in Soro of Odisha’s Balasore district on Saturday evening. The incident has been reported from Paikapada village of Fatehpur panchayat under the Upada police limits of the district.
The deceased has been identified as Sarmila Singh, while the accused husband has been identified as Ramchandra Singh Ghare.
According to reports, after Ramchandra, who works as a driver, returned home at around 5.00 pm on Saturday, he argued with his wife. As the argument turned violent, Ramchandra picked up a sword to attack his wife. When his sons prevented him from attacking their mother and snatched the sword from Ramchandra, he sent them out of the house. Later, he picked up a wooden pole and started thrashing Sarmila mercilessly. Sarmila sustained grievous head injuries which led to her death on the spot.
When the locals learned about the gory incident, they informed the police. On being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for autopsy.
The cops also detained Ramchandra and launched an investigation into the matter.
