**Angul: ** In a very unprecedented incident, a man trying to shoot at his wife injures two of his neighbours due to his bad aim. This incident occurred in Maratira village under Jarapada police limits, Angul.
Nirakar Sahu (45) had a quarrel with his wife Mandodari over a trifle issue but it angered him so much that he had taken out a loaded country-made pistol and fired at her. His aim went awry and it hit a neighbour named Subhadra Sahu (58) in her knee.
His foiled bid made him to attempt once more but it again missed his wife and injured another neighbour named Binati Sahu (35) in the thigh instead.
Both the victims of this aimless firing were rushed to the Angul District Headquartrs Hospital. Subhadra is out of danger but Binati’s condition deteriorated as she is referred to SCB, Cuttack.
Notably, the accused and his wife were having a domestic quarrel for the last few days. On Friday, Nirakar had asked his wife to fetch water from the nearby tubewell, but she had outrightly refused. This led to a heated argument following which the husband lost his temper and tried to fire at his wife.
Meanwhile, the accused fled the spot and is now absconding.
Police is investigating into the incident.
“We are trying to nab the culprit as soon as possible. We will also investigate as to how he got hold of a loaded pistol, as he doesn’t have a gun llicence,” said Smruti Pradhan, IIC, Jarapada.
