Bhubaneswar: In a complete U-turn from his statement issued early on Thursday morning after his three-day sojourn to New Delhi, BJP Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal told reporters in the afternoon that the BJP will go solo in the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state and claimed that the saffron party will form the next government in the state.
Talking to reporters outside the BJP party office in Bhubaneswar today, Samal said, “The BJP will fight the upcoming Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state independently and, with the blessing and support of the Odia people, will form the next government in the state.”
“We promise to uphold the pride and self-respect of the Odia people and Odisha,” Samal added.
However, the BJP’s top national leadership is yet to give a statement on the issue. The BJD too is yet to issue any statement on the subject of an alliance between the two parties.
