Maoist Brutality: Villagers Thrashed Suspected Of Being Police Informers

**Malkangiri: ** In yet another case of Maoist brutality, five villagers were beaten up mercilessly for allegedly being police informers here on Wednesday.

The incident occurred in Mahupadar and Kamarpalli panchayat under Maithili PS in Malkangiri, where the left wing extremists abducted five villagers Tuesday evening suspecting them of being police informers.

The villagers were then produced before the Maoist kangaroo court, organised on Tulashi hills, where they were brutally thrashed.

The victims have been identified as Rama Kabati, Unga Kabati, Rama Madhi, Chaitanya Madhi and Deba Madkami of Mahupadar village.

All of them are currently undergoing treatment.

Sources said, the rebels also put up posters threatening the villagers of dire consequences if they helped the police.

Reacting to such situation, Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said, “People are withdrawing their support from the Maoists. That is the reason behind such an act. After the incident, combing operations have been intensified by the joint forces of Odisha and Chhattisgarh in the hill areas.”
