Maoist Camp Busted After Exchange Of Fire In Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: Security forces busted a Maoist camp after an exchange of fire near Raighara village under Gochhada police limits in Kandhamal district on Sunday.

Kandhamal SP Vinit Agrawal in a press meet informed that an anti-Naxalite operation of a joint team of SOG and DVF Kandhamal was launched on March 28 near Raighara, based on reliable input.

On the said evening, the team was combing the area Maoists did heavy firing from an advantageous position and lobbed grenades.

The police party immediately took cover and asked Maoists to surrender themselves. In order to save themselves, the police party fired in a controlled manner in self-defense.

Taking the benefit of dense jungle and difficult terrain Naxals escaped from the spot. Police recovered the following incriminating articles from the spot.

  • Rice – 5 Kgs.
  • Dal – 4 Kgs.
  • Sugar – 500 gram.
  • Plastic Mug – 01 No.
  • Blanket – 05 Nos.
  • Salt – 01 Kg.
  • Tea – 5 Pkt.
  • Turmeric Powder – 5 Pkts. (small size)
  • Chili – 200 gram.
