Maoist Camp Busted After Exchange Of Fire In Kandhamal

Bhubaneswar: A Maoist camp was busted after an exchange of fire near Dhubusara village under Gochhapada police limits in Kandhamal district on Saturday in which two SOG commandos were injured and airlifted to Bhubaneswar for treatment.

Based on reliable input, an anti-Naxalite operation of a joint team of SOG and DVF Kandhamal was launched on 09.07.2021 near Dhubusara. On the morning of 10.07.2021, while the team was combing the area, Maoists did heavy firing from advantageous position.

The police party immediately took cover and asked Maoists to surrender themselves. In order to save themselves, the police party fired in a controlled manner in self-defence. Taking the benefit of dense jungle and difficult terrain, Naxals escaped from the spot.

Two Commandos got injured in the exchange of fire. They were airlifted to AIIMS Bhubaneswar for medical treatment by DGP Abhay, who was on an anti-Naxal review of Koraput and Malkangiri district.

On getting information about the injury of the commandos, the DGP immediately diverted his chopper to a small ground in Padelpada in Boudh district and took them to Bhubaneswar for medical treatment. The health condition of both commandos is stable.

While further search operation is continuing, police have recovered the following incriminating articles from the spot.
