Boudh: Boudh police have seized 12 IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices) and other articles from a Maoist camp during a two-day-long search and combing operation in Nalikumpha forest under Manamunda police limits in Boudh district.
This was informed by Boudh SP Raj Prasad at a press conference this evening.
Prasad said that based on reliable information of Maoists holding a camp inside Nalikumpha jungle under Manamunda police limits, a team of Special Operation Group (SOG) launched a search and combing operation on Wednesday.
On Thursday, suddenly Maoists opened fire and hurled bombs at the combing team.
After around 20—25 minutes of exchange of fire with the SOG jawans, the Maoists managed to flee the spot.
While security personnel fired at least 80 rounds, Maoists fired around 200 rounds in the exchange of fire. The ultras also hurled bombs at the security personnel.
During intensive combing, SOG jawans recovered 12 IEDs and huge quantity of articles used by the Maoists from a deserted camp of the ultras.
It is suspected that there were around 30-40 Maoists in the camp.
The ultras are said to be from the KKBN (Kandhamal-Kalahandi-Boudh-Nayagarh) division of the CPI(Maoist).
