Kalahandi: A Maoist camp which was operating in Jerka Reserve Forest under M Rampur police limits was busted on Wednesday morning. At least 25 Maoists escaped into Birhabaru Reserve Forest following an exchange of fire between the forces which included the SOG, DVF, CRPF and CoBRA battalions.
Another group of suspected Maoist escaped into Burhani Reserve Forest in Kandhamal district. No casualty has been reported on Maoist side so far, Kalahandi SP, Battula Gangadhar said.
“Taking advantage of the dense forest, the ultras escaped into the woods. The police recovered, one INSAS rifle, nine INSAS ammunition, two spare magazines, Maoist uniform, ammunition pouch, electric batteries, Maoist literature and other miscellaneous articles,” the SP added.
