Nuapada: In a significant breakthrough, the District Voluntary Force (DVF) of Nuapada busted a Maoist camp and recovered explosive materials, effectively foiling a possible attack planned by the ultras. The operation was carried out deep inside the Narayan Dongar Reserve Forest under Sinapali Police Station limits, based on specific intelligence inputs.
According to the Superintendent of Police, Nuapada, Gundala Reddy Raghavendra, a joint anti-Naxal operation was launched in the area where DVF teams carried out intensive combing and search operations. During the sweep, the security personnel discovered a recently abandoned Maoist camp in the dense forest.
A thorough search of the site led to the recovery of one Tiffin bomb- Improvised Explosive Device (IED), 20 gelatin sticks, an electric detonator, connecting wire, a torchlight, polythene sheets, and other camp-related materials. The presence of the IED and explosive components suggests that Maoist cadres were planning to target security forces or civilians in the region.
Officials noted that the timely action by the DVF has thwarted any potential threat, preventing harm to personnel and the local population.
Security forces have continued combing and area domination operations to trace Maoist movement and secure the region from further insurgent activity.
