Nuapada: Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel of Odisha Police in the wee hours on Monday busted a Maoist camp during a combing operation inside Sunabeda forest near Shivnarayanpur under Komna police limits in Nuapada district.
SOG personnel have seized Rs 4,00,000 in cash, one revolver, 4 rounds of ammunition, one radio, 30 nos. of small batteries and several other tools and Maoist articles.
According to an official press release, based on intelligence inputs, SOG personnel launched an operation across the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border.
On Monday around 3.00 AM in Sunabeda forest, near Shivanarayanpur under Komna police limits Naxals came into contact with SOG personnel.
In an exchange of fire with the Maoists, one SOG Commando sustained bullet injuries and was taken to Raipur for treatment and presently is out of danger.
Another team present in a separate hilly area also started the search operation in the early morning. This team noticed 10-12 Naxals at around 8 AM some 2-3 km from the site of the first exchange of fire. Again another exchange of fire took place, but taking advantage of the dense forest, Naxals managed to escape. In the second exchange of fire, a few Naxals are suspected to have sustained bullet injuries.
During a thorough search of the area, the aforementioned incriminating articles have been recovered from a seemingly transit hideout of the Naxals.
