Berhampur: Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda who has been lodged in the Berhampur Circle jail for the last eight years was shifted to the MKCG Medical College & Hospital (MKCG MC&H) here today.
Jail sources said that Panda has been admitted to the ENT Department of the MKCG MC&H and will be undergoing surgery on one of his ears.
One section of policemen has been deployed at the MKCG MC&H in this connection. Panda was undergoing treatment for toothache and pain in his ear at the prison. He was admitted to MKCG MC&H on the advice of the prison doctor for surgery on his ear.
The Maoist leader was arrested by police from the Bada Bazaar police station area of the city on July 18 in 2014. Since then he has been lodged at the Berhampur Circle Jail.
