Rayagada: A hardcore Maoist militia was arrested from Mayabali village under Kalyansinghpur police limits of Malkangiri district on Friday.

The accused identified as Sikunu Shikoka (31) has been working for Bansadhara Ghumsar Nagabali Divisional Committee.

As per police sources, Shikoka had been planted in the society as a common man to gather all sorts of intelligence for the Maoists.

It has been alleged that he dominated the local Dangaria people and besides extorting money from them for Naxals, instigated them to protest the developmental works.

Shikoka is also allegedly involved in the attack on a worksite of contractor Dinabandhu Choudhary on February 2, 2017, when around 10 to 15 Naxals had burnt two vehicles in protest of the road work in between Parsali and Gumma.

Police arrested Shikoka last night and also seized four number of Maoist posters from his possession.
