Maoists Blast Railway Station In Rayagada

**Rayagada: ** Maoists carried out a blast at Daikallu Railway Station in Rayagada district at around 1:30 am in the intervening night of Thursday-Friday.

Around 20 armed Naxals barged into the Daikallu railway station and caused an explosion in the office and snatched away the walkie-talkie used by the Station Master after dragging him out the station office.

However, the station manager was able to contact his higher authorities and police and report about the incident.

CPI (Maoist), Odisha State Committee has put up anti-government posters at various spots of the railway station. They have protested the appointments of non-Odia senior police officers, non-Odia administrative officers, non-Odia Jawans in Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Border Security Force (BSF).

The posters alarmed that non-Odia officers are exploiting and suppressing the people of Odisha.

Police force have reached the spot and have started investigation.

Notably this incident had caused massive delay in the train schedule through the route as police and railway officials are examining the safety measures through the route.

But, now the trains have resumed their scheduled journey from around 10:15 am.

A joint combing operation to nab the Maoists have been launched.

K.B. Singh, DGP, Odisha informed media on Friday, “Last night at about 12.30, 15-20 Maoists entered the Daikallu railway station. They first captured the station master, took him outside, kept IED inside and blasted. Office furniture has been damaged. They took the station master to a nearby yard. A goods train was there. They tried to damage the engine of the train. No Maoist outfit has claimed and we’re trying to ascertain. Investigation is on.”
