**Koraput:** As the police is unable to nab the culprits even after a week in the Koraput minor gangrape incident, both the Congress and the Maoists has called for Koraput bandh on Monday. The Congress has called for a 7-hr bandh protesting against the slow progress of the case inspite of several police teams investigating it. It has also demanded a compensation amount of Rs 50 lakhs for the victim.
According to chief whip of Opposition Congress party Taraprasad Bahinipati, “If the government won’t heed to our demands, a state wide protest will be held.”
On the other hand, the Maoists have called a 12-hr-bandh on the samed day condemning the incident protesting against the atrocity caused to the minor girl.
The bandh has paralysed the normal life in Koraput. The transport services have come to a grinding halt. The vehicular movement on the roads are disrupted. The commercial establishments all over the district have shut down their shutters while school and colleges remain closed affecting the whole district.
Interestingly, the common men are also supporting this bandh, according to sources.
