Bhubaneswar: Maoists exchanged fire with security personnel today in an area on the Andhra Pradesh side adjacent to the Gurasethu in the Swabhiman Anchal of Malkangiri district of Odisha.
According to a press communiqué issued by the police, the exchange of fire between Maoists and a combined team of District Voluntary Force (DVF)and Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel early morning today.
A .303 weapon, explosive items and camping materials have been seized as the Red rebels managed to escape after opening fire, the communiqué added.
The operation against the outlaws was led by Malkangiri SP in which Additional SP (Operations) also took part, the communiqué further said.
