‘Maoists’ Open Fire In Marketplace: Ex-Sarpanch Seriously Wounded

**Koraput:** Two suspected Maoists opened fire at a weekly market in Boipariguda area of Koraput district. A local Congress leader Anand Chariki sustained bullet injuries in the incident, which took place at around 4 pm today.

Chariki, a former Sarpanch sustained multiple injuries on his chest, head and limbs. he was rushed to Koraput district headquarters hospital and his condition is stated to be critical. While sources said, that the attack was executed by Maoists, the information is yet to be confirmed.

The incident occurred in Dandabadi Hata of Hatapada under Boipariguda Block. Local police have registered a case and launched a manhunt for the attackers who fled from the spot immediately after injuring the former Sarpanch.
