Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a married couple allegedly committed suicide by hanging themselves on Wednesday night at Fakirabad Jena Sahi under Derabish police station in Kendrapara district
The couple has been identified as Kartik Jena (25) and wife Pinki Das (21).
According to police sources, the couple locked their bedroom and went to sleep in the night.
They did not open the door late in the next morning. Sensing trouble, family members broke open the door only to find them hanging from the ceiling fan.
On being informed, Derabish police went to the spot and seized the bodies before sending them for post-mortem.
Police suspect that the couple was under severe mental duress over financial crisis which forced them to take such a drastic step. The exact reason can only be ascertained after investigation, police said.
A case of unnatural death has been registered in connection with the incident.
