Bhubaneswar/Jajpur: The mortal remains of martyred Odia jawan Sashank Sekhar Samal of Jajpur district was consigned to flames with full State honours at his native village Khetrapal under Dharmashala block.
Sashank made a supreme sacrifice for the motherland on Ladakh border on Thursday last week.
Soon after the body of the martyr arrived at Bhubaneswar airport last evening, it was taken to his native village in Jajpur district.
Thousands of villagers both from Khetrapal and peripheral areas paid their last respects and bade the brave son of the soil a tearful adieu.
Taking to his official Twitter handle today, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik also expressed his grief and deep condolences for the bereft family members as well as paid his humble homage to the martyr.
