Previously, 16 minors were among the 22 taken into custody by the Police on charges of ransacking shops and attacking street vendors at one of the busiest commercial centres of the State Capital on January 10.
Regarding the case, Dr Sarangi had told that one shopkeeper had allegedly misbehaved with a brother-sister duo which had become a heated argument when opposed. While the matter had been resolved in police station, the accused with about 30 people in masks had ransacked several shops and brutally beaten street vendors.
A case of rioting, promoting disharmony, wrongful loss or damage to the public or any person, and causing destruction of any property had been filed. And since the case involved involvement of several minors, the Commissionerate Police had been handling the case with extreme care.
