Khordha: A major fire broke out at a scrap godown situated near the Barunei reserve forest in Khordha in the afternoon today.
According to reports, the scrap godown contained mainly plastic scrap which also included old automobile tyres.
Plumes of smoke could be seen in the sky while two firefighting teams made relentless efforts to tame the blaze.
It is apprehended that the blaze could spread to the nearby Barunei reserve forest area if not contained in time.
Though the damage to property has not been ascertained so far, the 7-8 persons who were working in the scrap godown have escaped unhurt.
