Puri: A massive fire broke out in a scrap godown near Alamchandi temple at Atharanala, under Kumbharpada police station in Puri district.
Various scrap materials were burnt to ashes in the fire. Upon receiving the information, fire tender units reached the spot and attempted to douse the blaze. The entire area was engulfed in visible smoke after the fire.
The rescue operation was hampered due to exploding glass items in the godown.
Two fire services units were engaged to douse the flames. The operation was underway as of the last report. No casualties have been reported in the accident.
Though the reason of the fire remains unclear, electric short-circuit is believed to be the cause of the mishap.
