Bhubaneswar: The police have apprehended George Munda, the prime accused in the explosives loot incident, from the K. Balang police station area in Sundargarh district.
DIG (Western Range) Brijesh Roy disclosed this information in a press conference, stating that George Munda, a Maoist informer, was involved in the looting of explosives.
The breakthrough came after the interrogation of Shravan Agarwal and his wife Nikita Agarwal, who were arrested in connection with the explosives seizure case from Balughat petrol pump in Rourkela. The investigation revealed crucial information about the incident.
The Maoists had looted five tons of explosives, consisting of 200 boxes, meant for the Banko mine under K. Balang police station on May 27. The driver, Deonath Toppo, had reported the incident. The looted explosives were hidden in various locations in the Jareikela Tirilposhi Saranda forest in Jharkhand, near the Odisha border.
