Sundargarh: A High School Certificate (HSC) examinee was killed in a road mishap when he was going to the examination centre on his bike near Chakramal in Sundargarh district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Amran Ray of Dhelasara in Sargipali area. Amran died on the spot as a truck ran over his head.
Ray was on his way to Nialipali High School where he was supposed to appear for examination when a truck collided head-on with the motorcycle he was travelling in. As a result, Ray fell and came under the wheels of the truck.
Ray’s death sparked tension on the spot with locals resorting to road blockage which led to traffic disruption for some time.
The deceased’s father said, “My son was looking after his study expenses. He left to fill the fuel in his bike before leaving for the examination centre when the accident took place.”
Zila Parishad Chairman Kunti Pradhan said, “It is a heartrending incident. Ray was the only son of his parents. The ash-loaded truck belongs to Jharsuguda. Plying of heavy vehicles is not allowed on this road. Despite several road blockages, the district administration is yet to take action in this regard. We will hit the streets if the administration fails to take necessary action. I would like to urge the district administration to fulfil the demand of the deceased’s family members.”
On being informed, police reached the spot and pacified the locals.
