Bhubaneswar: Even as a severe heatwave is scorching Odisha, the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that people are likely get relief from the uneasy weather conditions soon. According to the IMD, the maximum temperature is expected to decrease by 1°C to 2°C in several areas of coastal Odisha under the influence of kalbaisakhi.
However, interior and western Odisha will continue to experience heatwave conditions.
Odisha has been experiencing extreme heatwave and humidity for the past 17 days disrupting normal life.
The maximum temperature (day temperature) will drop by 3°C to 4°C by May 6, the IMD has forecasted as air laden with moisture continues to enter into southern Odisha from the adjoining regions. This resulted in kalbaisakhi rainfall in some parts of Odisha on Wednesday and Thursday.
Meanwhile, Bolangir turned to be the hottest area of the state with maximum temperature at 45°C while 29 cities of Odisha recorded a daily temperature of above 40°C on Thursday.
