Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government has reserved the offices of the Mayor of two Municipal Corporations for woman candidates, as per a notification issued by the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department on Friday.
The offices of Mayor of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) have been reserved for woman candidates, while the office of Mayor of Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) is un-reserved.
As per separate notifications issued by the (H&UD) Department regarding the division of cities into wards, reservation of seats, and conduct of election, the area of BMC has been divided into 67 (Sixty Seven) wards, BeMC into 42 (Forty Two) wards, and CMC into 59 (Fifty Nine) wards.
In the BMC area, three wards each are reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman) and Scheduled Caste candidate, two for Scheduled Tribe (Woman) candidate, one for Scheduled Tribe candidate, and 29 for Woman candidate.
In the BeMC area, two wards each are reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman) and Scheduled Caste candidate, one for Scheduled Tribe (Woman) candidate, and 18 for Woman candidate.
In the CMC area, four wards are reserved for Scheduled Caste (Woman) candidate, three for Scheduled Caste candidate, one for Scheduled Tribe (Woman) candidate, and 25 for Woman candidate.
