Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow warning for light to moderate rain/thunderstorm with lightning in some parts of Odisha in the next three hours. According to the weather office, Mayurbhanj and Balasore are likely to experience light to moderate rain today afternoon.
People have been advised to keep a watch on the weather and accordingly move to safer places to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
Earlier, the IMD predicted that the intensity of Odisha’s rain will likely increase from today. Heavy rain in Odisha is expected in the next two days. Several areas across the state are expected to experience lightning and thunderstorm in the next two days.
During this monsoon season, Odisha recorded an average rainfall of 743.8 mm. This lies about 10 per cent less than the expected average rainfall of 822.9 mm. So far, only one district has recorded excessive rain.
