Baripada: As people are experiencing never before like heatwave conditions in Mayurbhanj district of Odisha and the district headquarter Baripada being the second hottest place in the State on Wednesday, the district administration has taken adequate steps to combat the situation.
Mayurbhanj Collector Vineet Bhardwaj informed that after a preparatory meeting with concerned officers, all have been instructed to take the necessary steps to tackle the situation.
The prime focus is on the supply of drinking water. Authorities have been directed to ensure that all tube-wells and piped water supply in the district should be functional for 24 hours. Spare parts and other items needed for repair of the tube-wells and piped water supply systems have been kept in stock.
Jal Chhatras (Water Kiosks) have been set up at various places while adhering to COVID-19 protocols. Besides, IEC activities are also being carried out at various places to raise awareness. People are advised not to venture out of the house during peak hours.
Heatstroke rooms have been arranged at all health care centres in the district with air conditioner or air cooler facilities and adequate stock of required medicines. No construction work is allowed between 11 AM to 3 PM.
