Baripada: Eminent painter of Mayurbhanj district and Director of School of Art and Crafts, Baripada, Shyam Prasad Pattanaik, died of COVID-19 on Sunday evening while undergoing treatment at KIMS COVID Hospital in Bhubaneswar.
After graduating from B.K. College of Art and Crafts in Bhubaneswar in 1990, Pattanaik had dedicated his life to the development of art. Instead of embracing art only as a livelihood, he dreamt of sharing his knowledge with children of the district.
He had not only trained hundreds of students but had also helped them earn their livelihood. Pattanaik’s paintings have made a name for themselves in the country and abroad. News of his death has cast a shadow of sadness and loss across the art community.
