**Bhubaneswar:** In the case of a female medical student’s rape that raised serious questions on security apparatus in educational institutions, startling revelations have come to the fore.
Sources said, the accused Manoj Khatua had forced the girl to come to his room in the college campus, taking advantage of her relationship with a male student.
“Khatua, an attendant in the college, had spotted the girl in a compromising position with her male friend. First he threatened the duo and later intimidated the girl to come to his room, where he committed the heinous act,” a senior police official said on conditions of anonymity.
Police had recorded the statement of the victim who narrated the entire ordeal on the day when the incident took place. The girl has mentioned that she was ‘caught’ by the attendant while the couple was sharing some private moments.
“The man bullied her that he would publicise the matter in public if the girl did not concede to his demand of physical intimacy,” the police official added.
The incident took place on December 19 in the campus of Hi-Tech Medical College and Hospital here. Soon after the student informed the college authorities about the incident, the latter identified Khatua, and handed him over to the police.
