MCL Mines Mishap: Mutilated Body Parts Recovered, Death Toll Rises To 4
Angul: Severed hand and mutilated body parts of a labourer was recovered from the Bharatpur MCL Mines on the fourth day of rescue operation after the landslide. With this, the death toll rose to four on Saturday.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained.
On Friday, bodies of Sibarampur pump house operator Kartikeswar Mohapatra and Supervisor Rashmi Ranjan Behera had been recovered from the debris. Meanwhile on Wednesday, body of one Papuna Biswal had been found. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has announced Rs 5 lakh ex-gratia for kin of deceased.
While rescue operations are still on, incessant rains are posing a problem, said officials.
It is notable to mention here that on Tuesday night a dump slide at an open cast mine in Talcher trapped 13 workers and machinery at work. While nine were rescued in critical condition and rushed to Central Hospital for treatment, four had been feared trapped.
