Bhubaneswar: Congress MLA Md Moquim’s daughter Sofia Firdous may descend on the poll the ground in the ensuing Assembly election in State.
Speculations are doing rounds on the development a day after Supreme Court declined to put a stay on Moquim’s conviction in a graft case.
Multiple meetings were convened with the supporters of the Cuttack – Barabati MLA’s house According to reports, his supporters insisted him on fielding his daughter in the Assembly poll.
The supporters have agreed to take the matter to party high command seeking a ticket for Sofia.
Moquim’s said that party has not yet finalised the candidate for Barabati. Party workers and supporters have full support behind the candidature of Sofia.
“We will discuss the matter with the intellectuals and people of Cuttack before giving report to the PCC,” Moquim said.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended Moquim’s sentence in a Rs 1.50 crore loan scam case but, declined to stay his conviction.
