Bhubaneswar: Medical College will be set up in all district headquarters of the Odisha, said Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on completion of 100 days of BJP government in the state.
“Currently, we have 11 medical colleges in the state and two more will be functional in Talcher and Kandhamal soon. Honouring the top 21 promises made by the Mohan Majhi-led BJP government, we are committed to establishing medical colleges in all district headquarters of the state in five years. We are working on the blueprint in this regard,” he told reporters today.
Giving details of the state government’s promise, Mahaling said that after assuming office in 2014, Prime Minister Narendra Modi framed a new rule for setting up medical colleges in all districts of the country. As per the rule, medical colleges have been set up in Odisha on the basis of Central and state partnership of 60:40.
“We are also working to solve the problem of deficient teachers in the medical colleges in the state. Very soon all vacant positions in the medical colleges will be filled up,” Mahaling added.
