Medical Student Dies After Being Hit By Speeding Bike In Balangir; Protests Erupt

Balangir: A first-year medical student of the Government Ayurvedic College in Balangir succumbed to injuries today while undergoing treatment after being hit by a speeding bike outside the college on Saturday.

As per reports, the mishap had taken place on Saturday when a speeding biker allegedly knocked down Simran Sarangi, a resident of Koraput and a first-year student of the Ayurvedic College. The collision was so impactful that the accident left Simran critically injured.

The victim was rushed to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir and later referred to Bargarh Bikash Hospital where she died while undergoing treatment.

Based on a complaint filed by College Principal, Town Police launched an investigation and took the speeding bike rider involved in the accident into custody.

On the other hand, the news of the medical student’s death has cast a pall of gloom over Balangir Ayurvedic College and Hospital. Students have protested and blocked the road, vowing to continue their agitation until their demands are met.
