Bhubaneswar: Meet this man, 54-year-old S Kameshwar Achary, Lord Jagannath’s goldsmith.
Achary, who belongs to the goldsmith caste feels blessed to be among the few privileged serving Lord Jagannath.
Achary claims to have been in the service of Lord Jagannath for making his gold and silver ornaments duly authorised by the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA).
“I am a goldsmith by occupation. By the blessings of Lord Jagannath I have been engaged by the temple authorities for making gold and silver jewellery of the Lord for the last 15 years,” said Achary.
Achary has just completed a conch shell made of silver for Lord Jagannath.
“A devotee expressed a desire to give a conch shell of silver to Lord Jagannath. The temple administration entrusted me with the responsibility (to make the conch shell of silver). By engaging three experienced artisans I have completed the work. We have used 1.4 kg of silver and it took us 15 days to complete it,” said Achary.
