Sambalpur: A MEMU (Mainline Electric Multiple Unit) passenger train derailed near Sarla station on Wednesday.
According to an official communique of ECoR (East Coast Railway), four wheels of a coach of 08169 Jharsuguda-Sambalpur MEMU Passenger Special got off track at about 6.25 PM today while travelling on Sarla-Sambalpur section due to sudden entry of cattle in the track and hitting the train.
Due to cattle runover trolley of 4th coach from front loco got off track. One line has been blocked. No injury or casualties have been reported so far.
Divisional Railway Manager, Sambalpur and his team have reached the spot and restoration work is going on.
Accident Relief Train consisting relief materials for track restoration has also reached the spot along with medical equipment, the communique added.
