Bhubaneswar: A 22-year-old mentally ill youth got stuck inside a hume pipe at Pallahara in Angul district today. The fire brigade and ODRAF team rescued him unharmed after two hours of long operation.
The youth identified as Tulu Sethi, son of Parsuram Sethi of Purunapani village under Barkote police limits in Deogarh entered the hume pipe on the road while his parents were waiting for a bus beside the road. They are to take him to Keonjhar district headquarters hospital after doctors at Pallahara hospital advised them for better treatment.
The parents were waiting for the bus near the over bridge in Pallahara town this morning. Suddenly, Tulu ran away from the place. His parents chased him to catch him. Tulu entered into the hume pipe and got stuck.
Locals tried to rescue him but failed, later fire brigade and ODRAF team were called, who swung into action and broke the pipe with the help of an excavator in the presence of sub-collector Susant Kumar Pati and police officials.
Tulu was rescued safely and admitted to Pallhara hospital.
