Bhubaneswar: A mentally unstable youth reportedly attacked the headmaster of Ganeswarpur Primary School under Tangi block in Cuttack district.
The victim has been identified as Pradeep Sahu.
The accused, identified as a resident of Adambapur village, wielding a wooden stick stormed into a classroom, hurled abuses and tried to attack students. When the headmaster intervened, the youth brutally attacked him with the wooden stick, causing severe injuries to his leg, sources said.
The students and villagers managed to capture the youth and handed him over to the Sarpanch. The Sarpanch rushed the accused to a hospital after knowing that he is suffering from mental illness.
The headmaster is, meanwhile, undergoing treatment.
