Bhubaneswar: It is the middle of February and the mercury has already crossed 35°C in at least nine places in Odisha on Thursday. In fact, the maximum temperature in Bhubaneswar breached 35°C for the first time in this season on Thursday.
According to the regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar, the capital city recorded the maximum temperature of 35.4°C on Thursday while Angul was the hottest place in the state at 35.9°C.
The maximum temperature at Jajpur was 35.2°C yesterday, followed by Bargarh (35.1°C), Khurda (35°C), Jagatsinghpur (35°C), Malkangiri (35°C), Jharsuguda (35°C), and Dhenkanal (34.9°C. The mercury breached 34°C in Hirakud, Chhatrapur, Titilagarh, Bolangir and Bhawanipatna.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar IMD Director Manorama Mohanty has said that the night and day temperatures will drop slightly across the state on Friday bringing in some relief from the sweltering heat. There may be a slight chill at night.
However, there is no possibility of a major change in the weather in the next 4 to 5 days.
